Title: Change Admin Password
Post by: chris on October 27, 2013, 02:40:54 PM
Hi

How can I change the password for the admin.
In the backend I tried with "set new password" and in the frontend I tried to set a new password, but it does not work.
I still have the old password. With the admin I can only login to the backend, not to the frontend.

Regards Chris

Hi,

which knowledgeroot version are you using?
The admin user for frontend and backend are different!
The password hash for the backend login is saved in the config.
In the backend you can only change passwords for frontend!
So which password do you want to change? For backend or for frontend?

Hi Frank

Thanks for your answer.
I have a new installation by a new provider and made a MySQL import for my database.
I am using version 1.04, but had the same problem also in older versions.
I like to change the backend password.

Hi,

ok. So go to the backend login page.
Enter your new credentials you want to use and click login.
You login will be denied but you will see a loginhash at the bottom.
Copy this hash and open your config/app.ini and go to section "[admin]".
Then you will see a value for loginhash. Replace it with your new hash.
After that save the config and try the login again.

regards,
Frank
