Colors in Live Diagram
« on: July 25, 2008, 07:06:29 AM »
Hi,

I'm sure it's a stupid question, but... how can I select/change the color of objects in a Live Diagram? I've been unable to find some color selector at all, and the "Help" button just put me again in the main page without further information.

I'm using version 0.9.8.5 (with PostgreSQL 8.1.13 and PHP 5.2.6 under FreeBSD 6.3, for that matter) and my browser is Firefox 3.0.1 in Mac OS X.

Regards,
NK.

Well, looking at the TWikiDrawPlugin site, I've seen that there should be some options (Drawing, Edit, Selection, Fill, Line and Text) added to the applet window. However, with Live Diagram those are added to Firefox menu bar, instead. So, for editing some color I have to:

- Select an object in the applet window.
- Click in the main browser window to put it active in the foreground. The menu appears there in the menu bar.
- Choose the color (i.e. in the "Fill" menu) (the applet window is in the background, so I don't see the effect)
- Clicking in the applet window for moving it to foreground I see the object color is really changed, even if the applet menus now disappear from the Firefox menu bar.

This doesn't look as the right behaviour for color editing. Maybe it's a Firefox related problem, however, because Safari 3.1.2 does show the menu in the right window...

Any ideas?

Regards,
NK.

No problem. Here they are:

The first screenshot shows the applet window as seen in the twikidraw page. The editing options (Drawing, Edit, Selection, Fill, Line and Text) are in a menu bar in the applet itself:

But when I try to edit a Live Diagram in Knowledge Root, the applet doesn't show that menu bar:

However, if I click in the main Firefox browser window to put it in again into foreground, those options are been added to the Firefox menu bar, so I can use them for editing the objects in the Live Diagram. But to do that, I have to go first into the applet window, select the object and return back to the main browser window to be able to use the menu options. (In the sample I've changed the color of the ellipse to light blue)

Note that after saving the Live Diagram and closing its window, the editing options still remain in the Firefox menu bar:

Finally, using the Safari browser, the editing options are not in the applet window yet, but at least they appear in the browser menu bar when the applet window is active in the foreground:

NK.

Surely, it looks as a bug. What should the normal behaviour be for the edition menu? Should those options appear in the Java applet window itself (as in the TWikiDrawPlugin screenshot) or in the main browser window (as in the Safari sample)?
